He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa
Bonjour à toutes nos familles
It has been great having everyone back at school and we thank you all for your support with mask wearing across the school. We are being mindful to try to keep things as normal as possible, while still following the Ministry guidelines under Red. Other than mask use, school looks very similar to what it looked like last year at Level 2. This means:
-
Stay home if you’re sick
-
Sanitise your hands
-
Contact trace when you come onto the school grounds
-
Parents do not enter the buildings
-
The office is closed
-
Maintain social distancing and wear masks at pick up and drop offs
-
Leave the school grounds quickly
-
All children to wear masks (encouraged at Year 1-3, expected at Year 4 up)
Goal setting conferences: 21 - 24 February
This year, we will be holding goal setting conferences with parents from 21 - 24 February. These will be online via googlemeet with the kaitiaki teacher for 15 minutes. We will be sending out ‘Meet the Teacher’ slides a week beforehand so you can have a look through those and have an idea of who the teachers are and how the day runs. You will be able to book a time for your conference via our online booking system. A link to this will come out closer to the time.
Online sessions
In the past at our picnic nights on the field, we have held workshops for parents on things like helping your child at home with reading, supporting your child with their friendships and the use of the @schoolapp. We plan to put together information about these same things and run some online sessions early on this term. If there is a topic that interests you and you would like to learn more about, please let Sarah know and we will see if we can add it.
German lessons - Nina is back!
We have Nina Koch coming back this term to teach German on Fridays. Nina runs beginner classes as well as mother tongue groups across the school day and is an exceptional teacher. There is a cost for these classes of $5 per lesson which works out at about $40 per term. This will be added to your account. If your child would like to learn German or extend their German speaking skills, please let Sarah know (sarah@ridgway.school.nz).
Chess club - sign up by Sunday 13 February
Our chess club has been going strong for many years and we have many talented players. This year chess will be on Tuesday mornings (9-10am for beginners and 10-11am for advanced) in Room 2 on the field.
There is a charge of $30 per term to cover costs, this ensures our club continues and has a very talented chess teacher (Mark van der Hoorn). If your tamariki is interested, please complete this registration form before Sunday 13 February.
Netball Sign Up
Term 1 netball is for the Year 1 to Year 4 students ($40 per player), so if your tamariki is interested please click on the relevant link below to read more and sign up before Thursday 10 February.
Student ICT User Agreement
This ICT User Agreement needs to be read and signed by a parent and the child, then returned to school. It will be going home this week.
