Whānau Hui Survey

We are currently sitting on six responses from six absolute legends of newsletter readers and responders. We’d love some more to complete the survey! Remember, the group is for all whānau who wish to learn and support Te Ao Māori within our school.  We would love to hear from you and will have a Whānau Hui meeting on Thursday 21 November (6.30 - 8pm)  to discuss the survey feedback and begin the refresh.  Kai and childcare provided!

Shakespeare Production

Huge congratulations to Harriette and her Year 7 & 8 crew for the stellar performance in A Midsummer Night’s Dream yesterday.  They performed scenes alongside a number of other Year 7 & 8 schools and did an amazing job. We are very lucky to have our very own MA certified Theatre Director and Toi Whakaari graduate, Harriette, to work with the children on this. What an opportunity for our Year 7 & 8s! We weren’t allowed to take photos of the performance as they are available to buy, but here is a rehearsal photo and a pre performance photo!

Dogs on the field

Unfortunately one of our Year 1s was nipped by a dog this week before school, on the field. It might be a good time to remind your children about approaching dogs and also a good time to remind dog owners that Vogelmorn Park is officially an ‘on-leash’ park and even then, they’re only allowed there when the space is not in use.

Tennis Year 5 - 8

The Treasurer at Vogelmorn Tennis Club applied for a grant from BRC Charitable Trust to get lessons for our Year 5 - 8s. These start next week and will happen for another term next year too. Thanks to the mysterious BRC Charitable Trust, whose identity is not revealed via a google search.  They must be awesome though!

Crazy Hair Day - Wednesday 13 November

The Trash Heap has spoken and our latest PB4L reward is next Wednesday.  This is a whole school reward for filling up our R Card box! Come with your craziest hair style and have some fun, celebrating all the positive behaviour we’ve seen around the school.

Parking in our driveway/carpark at drop off and pick up

We know parking around the school is a pain, but please don’t drive into the driveway at these times. It’s super dangerous for our little ones who are zipping in and out of the gate, sometimes with preschoolers in tow.  Just find a park on the road somewhere and go for a little walk. Get those steps up while not injuring anyone. It’s a win-win!

And now time for some reminders…

Salvation Army - helping at Christmas time

Remember, if you can, to bring in any treat food for the Salvation Army to add to their Christmas boxes. We promise not to eat it.

Brooklyn Twilight Festival - reminder - it’s next weekend

Our kapa haka have been invited to open the festival again this year. Last year, we clearly impressed them with our talent. We’d love a big group of children to be able to perform to open this event so please fill out the form if your child is able to join us! We will meet at 2pm at the Scout Hall (TBC) to get into the kapa haka uniforms, warm up and then the performance is at 2.30pm at the end of Harrison Street.

Chess Tournament

Our annual chess tournament is on Tuesday 12th November hosted by our expert chess tutor Mark van der Hoorn. All students are welcome to sign up through this form. It is $5 per student to enter.
