He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa
Bonjour à toutes nos familles

Welcome to our two Italian interns

This week we have welcomed Sara and Lorenza, two teaching interns from Italy, who are with us for the rest of the year. At this stage Lorenza is in Kōtare and Sara is in Tūī but they may move around the school, having the opportunity to teach and learn at all levels.

The case of the explosive ball

It was an exciting Wednesday lunchtime here at school.  A loud bang!  Was it a shot fired? Was our lockdown practice about to be put to use?  Or was it the result of an overzealous dad going crazy with a ball pump?

Here is the explanation you didn’t know you were waiting for:

“My dad over pumped my brand new basketball and I threw it really high in the air at lunchtime and when it landed it sounded like a gunshot and it popped. The whole school went quiet and looked. Then the whole school started chasing me because they wanted to see what it looked like inside the ball.  Everyone thought it was a real gun. When the ball popped the air pushed it and it went flying to the other side of the court.”
