Bonjour à toutes nos familles

Yesterday’s visit

It was quite the experience having the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education come to school yesterday.  We couldn’t have been prouder of the way the children showed our values and sang their hearts out. Their behaviour was so amazing that one of the reporters commented to a teacher that ‘these must be the quietest children in Wellington’ while they sat and waited for the guests to walk through the door.  While it was sad we didn’t make the news last night, tonight might be our night. With the number of media in attendance you would have expected us to be front page news and the first story of the night (maybe the crashing Cook Strait ferry took our spot)!

One of our wonderful parents offered her photographic services and came along and took photos of the visit, which she is making available for you to view and download (link in the email with this newsletter). Thank you so much Julia, your photos are beautiful!

New minute taker for the Board

Anyone out there able to be our minute taker for our Board meetings?  They happen twice a term, are about an hour and a half on Thursday evenings with delicious snacks and great company!  The next one is on 12 September at 6.30pm. If you’re able to help, email the Board at ridgwaybot@gmail.com

Cookie mixture for sale after school

A former student, who is the older sister of one of our Year 8 boys, is undertaking a project at Wellington East Girls College as part of a Year 12 business class. The group is called the Yummy Jars and they are selling various flavoured jars of cookie mixture, with 20% of the price being donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation and the rest of the profit going towards WEGC school related projects.

They have asked to sell this after school to parents. If you’re coming to school pick up and are able to support them by buying a jar, that would be great! They will be outside in the courtyard (or under the cover if it’s raining).
