Celebrating Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori

This week we have been busy celebrating Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori at school. There are loads of ways we have been celebrating this around the school. These include:

  • Making korowai

  • Increasing our te reo vocabulary with kupu o te ra

  • Making signs to promote the use of te reo and holding a parade

  • Learning about a Maori hero each day

  • Learning new waiata and hand games

  • Singing favourite waiata (which can even be heard as this is being written drifting down the corridor)

  • Te reo quizzes and tongue twisters

  • Daily whakatauki

  • Presenting pepeha

Matua Henare has also started taking our te reo extension group each week!  Ka mau te wehi!

Using the school app

If anyone is feeling any frustrations with using the school app, please get in touch with us.  If things aren’t loading, the app is shutting you out, there are issues with switching between children’s accounts (when you have more than one child), or something else annoying and random is occurring,  let us know so we can put in the requests for help so it is easy to use!

Welcome to Julie Llorca

We have welcomed Julie to our school and she is working in Ruru part time.  She is originally from France but has spent the last ten years living in London, teaching in schools over there. Sadly for Julie, when her family’s time in MIQ was over, they were promptly met with a Level 4 lockdown in Wellington. It’s nice to finally see her in person rather than just online!

Moveathon!

Although it seems like a million years ago now, the results are in.  We raised just under $7000!  Well done to everyone who took part and raised money for our Adventure Playground on the bank. Prizes are being handed out to those who raised the most money for each year group, did the most laps, best dressed and the two who raised the most overall. Thank you all for your support with this!

Ngā mihi
