Education Outside the Classroom
Learning doesn't just happen at school and neither does it only happen inside the classroom. There are numerous benefits to providing active outdoor learning activities for children of all ages. Education Outside the Classroom activities include going on a school camp, day walks, visits to museums and libraries, and attending shows at various venues in Wellington.
Year 7 and Year 8 students have previously gone on camp to Blue Mountain Adventure Camp - however this is under review.
In even years our Year 5 and Year 6 students go to camp at Forest Lakes.
New Zealand Festival
in 2018 the NZ Festival is bringing A Waka Journey to Ridgway School on Friday 26 February. This is a free event that all students will enjoy.
Often parents are asked to provide transport to events that take place away from our school grounds, and on these occasions we ask for a transport koha that is passed onto those parents who take their cars. The koha provides the petrol money that some families need to be able to offer their assistance. Some parents choose to donate this koha back to the school where it is used to support further EOTC activities.
