Due to our interesting Wellington weather we postponed this event to Thursday 8 November from 5.30. Please fill out the form for The Big Dig if you are going to join us (and keep your fingers crossed for some lovely planting weather).
27 players competed on Monday 5 November to find the best chess player in the school. Results will be posted soon...
We are hosting the Scholastic Book fair from Wednesday 21 November. Books make great Christmas presents and everybody wants to read over the holidays! Students will have an opportunity to browse the books on offer and put together a wish list. Organisation for 2019
Kōtare will continue to have their nest in Room 5 and will be made up of the Y0 and Y1s. During Term 2 (depending on numbers and needs) around 24 children and their teacher will move into Tūi.
Tūi will start as a Year 2 and 3 whānau. Tūi and Kōtare will work closely together and Julie Hanify is the team leader and first point of contact for parents. The best way to get hold of her is by email on firstname.lastname@example.org.
The whānau home base for all our Year 4-6 children Kūkupa, will be Te Wharenui (the Big Space) and Room 8. The team leader for this whānau is Sarah Taylor. She is the first point of contact for parents and the best way to get hold of her is via email on email@example.com. For this whānau we are using our year level groupings and assigning these groups a teacher who is responsible for their wellbeing. Your child will be taught by all the teachers in this team over the year. Children will be put into groups for literacy and maths and this may change from term to term according to need. Teachers will notify parents when children change literacy or maths groups.
Kākā (Year 7 & 8) will be lead by Pam Clarke and will be based in Room 10.
The French Bilingual Unit will be based in Room 4 and taught by Nicolas Delaire
As we are finalising the organisation for 2019 we would appreciate you telling us if you are not returning to Ridgway next year or if your child will be joining the French bilingual unit.

Friday 16 November is a strike day for NZEI members. We will leave our school open but only have a couple of staff at school as the majority of our teachers are striking. We would appreciate you making other arrangements for your children if at all possible. Thank you for your support with this.
Inspire Family Portrait Fundraiser
Robyn Connor is running a family portrait session on Sunday 25 November to raise money for our new fence on the zig-zag path down to the field. Follow this link to secure a photo session time if you want to take up this great opportunity and get a great family photo just in time for Christmas.
On 30 November we are having a Wheelathon. Keep an eye out for the sponsor sheets which will be coming home soon. Now that our fabulous sandpit is done we are looking to upgrade our zig zag path to the bottom field with each child decorating their own fence post.
Use of staff toilets
If your preschooler needs to use the toilet when you are here to drop off or pick up your child, please take them to the trailer toilets by the playground rather than the staff toilets.
