What is a MLE and why do we need one?

This term is heard a lot lately as schools refurbish and replace aging buildings.  It refers to the features of the school buildings that enable teachers to teach, and students to learn, in the ways that will enable our children to be the "confident connected actively involved life long learners" that we want them to be.

The Ministry of Education have a list of priorities for school redevelopment that include making sure the buildings are fit for purpose.  These include the development of flexible spaces that can be used in a variety of ways, depending on the learning that needs to happen.
