Sandpit Update

February 2018

Kia ora koutou katoa,

The following is an update on the progress of our Sandpit Project.

At the end of last year, we applied for building consent to Wellington City Council (WCC).We were hoping that WCC would grant us a quick consent but unfortunately this did not happen (in fact, their consent submission website was out of order before Christmas.)

They (WCC) have requested further information for the consent, including existing accessibility features around the school. The WCC building team have decided they will require an encroachment licence, so preparation for this is now underway.

In terms of consent queries, we are awaiting a response from Wellington Water on having an additional storm water connection (to carry away water from the roofs), but otherwise have the other items covered. These items include the request from WCC for further documentation of existing accessibility features around our school e.g. ramps, stairs, and handrails.

Once we have advice/approval from Wellington Water, we can consider as necessary and forward the replies back to the WCC.

The encroachment licence application is underway. For this, approval from services authorities Nova gas, Enerco, Wellington Electricity, Chorus, Vodafone, Wellington Water, is required. We have contacted them all and are awaiting their written approval. Once these are received, we can forward them with application information to the WCC..

Regarding our builder, he is awaiting advice on consent approval, and has updated plans with final engineering detail (which we received just before Christmas last year) for pricing. He has been away for most of January and we are currently in contact with him.

The Ridgway BOT would like to thank our community for their patience as we continue to work through this project and to Fiona Christie and Ewan MacMaster (Ridgway parents) for their professional advice and support.
