Bonjour à toutes nos familles
Victory for the Ridgway Hawkes and Ridgway Raiders!
What a week for basketball! Both our teams won their finals! Huge thank you to our amazing coaches, Christine and John!
End of term assembly - Friday 30 September at 2.15pm
We are having this whole school assembly both in person and online. It will be in Kahikatea (the basketball court) with parents out in Tawa (the central collaboration space). As our AV gear hasn’t arrived yet (guess it’s got COVID), the sound is unlikely to be amazing. Essentially what we are saying is, you’re welcome to come but you might not be able to hear anything! Here is the link if you would prefer to join online.
Girls’ Self Defence
This week our Year 6 - 8 girls completed a self defence course (previously falsely advertised by me as a First Aid Course which led to a lot of confusion). This was a whole day course run by Kia Haumaru – Personal Safety Education where they learned self defence skills and gained confidence in dealing with potentially unsafe situations.
Pick up outside Kotare
Please be aware if you are blocking the footpath by waiting on it at the end of the day, our children have to step on to the road to get past you. If you wait in the driveway or the concrete bit slightly further down it will be safer for everyone! Please help keep all of our children safe by waiting somewhere that doesn’t make the children step out onto the road.
Yesterday we had a sausage sizzle. Next week Neo's mum, a Thai chef, will be making fried rice! You can order this through https://www.lunchonline.co.nz/. We encourage children to bring their own bowl and spoon/fork from home, so that we aren't clogging the bins with disposables plates and cutlery. If they forget we will still have something they can use here at school.
