Spotlight and the @school parent app

The @school parent app is a very important tool for whānau in staying connected to the school and their child's learning. The @school app allows you to access, among other things, information about our school, the contact information we hold for you, and details about your child's learning.

At the start of the year we sent out instructions, and log in details to parents. These can be re-sent to you if you had trouble accessing Spotlight. You can request this information from Anneleah in our office. (anneleah@ridgway.school.nz)

Coffee catch up with Kathryn and Sarah

Join Kathryn and Sarah at VBC on Friday mornings for a casual conversation about anything at all. This is a great time to ask those little questions or to find out more about how or why we do what we do at Ridgway. We will be there from 9.15 - 10am.

Pink Shirt Day tomorrow!

As part of Bullying-Free NZ Week we will be holding a Pink Shirt Day tomorrow (Friday 21 May). Wear a pink shirt and bring a gold coin koha to be donated to the Mental Health Foundation.

Teacher Only Day Dates

School is closed either side of Queens Birthday Weekend. The dates are Friday 4 June and Tuesday 8 June. The other two teacher only days this year are Friday 13th August and 26th October (the Tuesday after Labour Day).

Our Kids Online - Safety Parent Information Evening
Vogelmorn Hall, Thursday 27 May, 7 - 8.30pm

The purpose of the talk is to educate parents on the impact unsupervised access to the internet is having on our tamariki. We cover exposure to pornography, predators, social media, cyberbullying and also how devices in bedrooms, being switched on 24/7 and lack of sleep are having a detrimental effect on learning. Aimed at parents, teachers & caregivers Rob & Zareen provide a 90 minute interactive information evening designed to help any adults with children in their lives gain a better understanding of some of the potential dangers children face in the online world. More information can be found here.

Life Education - starring Harold the giraffe

This was due to take place early on in the term but has been postponed to the second to last week of term, the week of 28 June. The truck will have to park in the bus stop outside the school for the week which will impact on the drop off/pick up area.
