Transition times next week

Next week on Monday and Tuesday our children who are moving spaces will spend time with their new teachers in their new spaces. This gives them the chance to hang out with their teacher for next year.  Year 6s will have James Ford as their kaitiaki teacher and he is currently in Auckland so he will be zooming in online for this one!

Water fight Monday!

As one of our PB4L rewards, we have our end of year water fight on Monday afternoon. Everyone gets pretty wet so your child should bring togs, towels and something to soak their friends (and enemies, if they have them). It starts at 2pm on the field. Kōtare have the option to stay up the top and just splash each other, rather than joining in with the big kids on the field.

Artist in Residence next year

We are lucky to have Steve Mushin working with us next year. Steve will run a series of his full-day Ultrawild Design Lab workshops with the Year 5 - 8 students. These are high-energy, full-day design workshops where students learn rapid design sketching, 3D drawing, model making to a set scale (1:100) in cardboard, and idea pitching, as they develop their own ultra wild designs.

Steve will challenge each student to design a futuristic ultra wild building for a future Wellington. Each student will create a model to the same scale (so that all models can be brought together to create a city at the end). As part of this project we hope to to involve parents and other local community experts (for example engineers and scientists from Wellington's Predator Free projects) and finish with a grand exhibition.  Something to look forward to!

Farewell to our Italian interns

Last week we farewelled our lovely Italian interns, Sara and Lorenza, who had been working in Tūī and Kōtare. The children really enjoyed getting to know these two Italian student teachers!
