Bonjour à toutes nos familles

Ultrawilding Exhibition - next Tuesday night at 6pm

Come and join us next Tuesday night to celebrate the learning the children have been doing on rewilding Wellington with Stephen Mushin.  We have a number of guests coming and you can expect to see our local MP Julie-Ann Genter, Deputy Mayor Laurie Foon and Predator Free Wellington amongst other salubrious guests! Hope to see you all there.

Silent auction

Exciting news - Interislander has donated a $500 voucher to our auction! There are lots of other great things on offer already, and more coming soon - check them out at https://auctria.events/ridgway2025
What will you add? Do you have a skill or item you can offer, such as:

  • a decorated birthday cake
  • a guided kayak/paddleboard/mountain bike trip
  • a few hours of handyman or gardening work (always in demand!)
  • language lessons
  • a trailer to borrow for a day
  • something you’ve been meaning to put on Trademe, but could give to the auction instead
We’re excited to use the skills of our community to raise money for the learning support programme. To make an offer go to https://bit.ly/ridgway_auction_offer

Walking out with the Phoenix

The draw will be done first thing Monday morning and we will let you know which names get selected.  Please manage expectations, sadly there will be about 15 children missing out.

Le Relais du Monde 🌍 (The world relay)

Last week, the French Ambassador visited Ruru to film Le Relais du Monde, a global event organised by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Here are some shots from the visit.

Upgrade of the bus stop

The bus stop on The Ridgeway outside school is being upgraded from 6 April to 26 April and the area will be coned off.  A couple of years ago a group of children worked on artwork for the bus stop so hopefully they will get to see their work come to life!

Blessing of the pou

We are looking for some parents to help us with this event and make it special. We are really lucky to have these four pou designed and carved by local carver and oral historian Ihaia Puketapu. This is definitely an event worth celebrating!  We will be looking for people who can help us with the food preparation and some behind the scenes organisation on the day.  It’s going to be a dawn blessing on 29 April so you might have to be a morning person! If you’d like to come along and help us out, it would be lovely to have you.  Just send Sarah an email.
