Bonjour à toutes nos familles

RASCals - Ridgway After School Care

Lucan is our lovely RASCals manager who is there everyday. We have different teachers running the activities. Children also have plenty of time for free play! This is what is happening next week at RASCals:

Monday with Nathan - sculpture with wire

Tuesday with Derek - music

Wednesday with Jonathan - bikes (Task Master if the weather isn’t great)

Thursday with Harriette - drama games

Friday with Estelle - Lego challenge

In the last newsletter, we mentioned that we have the capacity to run the holiday programmes ourselves at school.  While this will happen in the future, the upcoming holidays will still see Enjoy hiring our space to run their programme. If your child needs a holiday programme, you can book in through them the usual way.

Upcoming Phoenix Visit

We are in discussions with the Phoenix and it looks likely they are going to come to school and spend a few hours with the children in March. Once the date is confirmed, we will let you know. We’re lucky enough to have both male and female players coming to inspire the children and teach them some tricks! As a football mad school, this is such a great opportunity!

Juggler extraordinaire - Paul Klaass!

To bring the Newtown Festival vibes up to school next week, we’ve got a multi-award winning comic juggler (who is in town for the Festival) coming to school on Tuesday to do a show! We’re asking for a gold coin donation to help cover the cost of this.

Should be awesome! If your child is a keen juggler, Paul may be able to do a little workshop after his show!

Mitey - our mental health programme

These are a couple of examples of the work that has been done so far, learning about identity and each other’s special qualities. Children examined feelings, thoughts and actions and identified ways to foster healthy friendships. They created their own feathers that then formed a nest, cloak or a giant feather. It helped children look at similarities and differences between them and the others in their class.

These are Kōtare’s nest and the staff’s feather!
