He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa
Bonjour à toutes nos familles
Festival of the Arts
It was fabulous to have so many tamariki and their whānau here last night. What a beautiful evening! We hope you were as proud as we were of all the mahi the children have been doing in discovery learning this term. We also had a marketing team who worked behind the scenes to get the event up and running. Ka rawe te mahi!
Farewell to Libby Hainsworth
Sadly, Libby is leaving Ridgway at the end of the year. She has accepted a job closer to her home now her girls are no longer at school in the city. We are currently advertising for a teacher to join Kererū in her place. She will be hard to replace and we’ve loved working with her over the last five years, making the most of her incredible art skills while suffering greatly due to her terrible sense of humour.
Despite leaving Julie Hanify off the 2023 organisation in my last newsletter (shocking omission on my part because who could forget Julie?), she is definitely still going to be here next year doing all sorts of fabulous Julie things!
No Black Ferns Parade
Unfortunately we were unable to source a bus to make this a school trip. Boo hiss! No doubt some of you will want to take your children anyway, so just let the office know.
Final assemblies
You are welcome to join these next week online or in person. The Junior Assembly is at 9.15am and the Senior Assembly is at 2.15pm on Thursday 15 December.
Ridgway’s Got Talent
If your child auditioned for this, they are in. Please encourage them to practice, practice, practice over the weekend!
If you have any questions about this, just flick me an email (sarah@ridgway.school.nz). The performance is on Monday at 2pm and you are welcome to come. There won’t be an online option for this one.
Community Notices
Cards for sale
Lucas from Kōtare is running a homemade gift card stall at the Brooklyn Community Market this Saturday 10th December from 12pm - 4pm. If you are in the neighbourhood Lucas would love to see you there!
Anxiety Survey for AUT
We are a team of mums, psychologists and researchers from AUT. We are keen to understand the wellbeing and psychological needs of tamariki in Aotearoa New Zealand.
We are conducting a survey of parents of primary-aged children (aged 5-11), to learn more about their feelings, behaviours, challenges and access to psychological assessment and treatment.
Even if your child has never needed psychological treatment, we would love to hear from you! We need to understand the experiences of many children in NZ, both those experiencing challenges and those who are not.
Your answers will help us to design better support for children in the future. The survey should take less than 15 minutes to complete.
