The traffic light system and what it means for Te Kura O Tawatawa Ridgway School

Despite moving to the traffic light system, schools retain the current Alert Level 2 public health measures for the rest of the school year.  This means:

• the office remains closed, so please phone or email

• all meetings with parents will need to be online

• wear masks when you come on to the school grounds

• all volunteers need to show vaccine passports 

• those attending the Year 8 Leavers’ Ceremony at Vogelmorn Hall need to show vaccine passports. 

Parking reminders

Please do not park Coleridge St or stop on the yellow lines there to pick up and drop off children. The neighbours have been complaining about not being able to get in and out of their street because of people blocking their driveways. 

Ridgway’s Got Talent

We will be filming this on Tuesday 7 December. The link will then be shared with you all to watch and admire the talent of some of our Ridgway students.  Children will also be watching this with their classes.  Bring on next year when we can hold it in our new school with everyone watching!

Fundraising 

The ice cream sales went well last week and today we have our sausage sizzle!  Next Friday is burgers and remember to pre-order using this order form.  

Transition sessions next week

Next week, we are having three 45 minute transition sessions for tamariki to work with their kaiako for next year. These are on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and tamariki will move to their spaces for next year, so they feel comfortable starting the new year.  

Farewells to staff members

Sadly, we have two of our awesome staff members leaving us this year.  The lovely Amy Jack is moving down to Christchurch with her family to be closer to her mum.  We have loved having Amy work with us over the last few years. She is an inspirational teacher and will have taught many of the tamariki at school.  We love you Amy and will miss you so much!  

The wonderful Vincent Verhelst has finished his Jules Verne Programme, which enabled him to come over from France and work at Ridgway for two years.  He has been an asset to our school community, teaching in Ruru and across the senior school.  This year he has worked with our peer mediators, extension writers and in Ruru. We have been extremely lucky to have had him with us for the last two years and will miss him heaps. He’s said we can all visit him and his family in France and stay for as long as we like when this whole COVID debacle is over so start planning your trip to France!

Community Notices

Jo Randerson, Barbarian Productions (based up at the Vogelmorn Bowling Club) and a few other amazing artists on an exciting Brooklyn based project called Who's Here? This project is exploring the theme of family and well being through music and we're on the look out for insights and feedback from the very families of this wonderful community.  Link to the our PDF notice

We are particularly on the look out for 3 families to lock in by the end of the year to come back and make some music with us next year!
