Welcome to Term 3! Hopefully you all had a good break and it sounds like many families have been really making the most of domestic tourism and heading off all over the country. A warm welcome to all our new children and their families.

Zone meeting

A reminder that members of our school community who wish to get more information about our proposed enrolment scheme are invited to meet with the principal tomorrow 22 July at 7pm at the school. Please RSVP to the school office if you plan to attend. The proposed enrolment scheme can be viewed here and an interactive map showing the zone boundaries is also available for viewing.

Lunch orders

This term's lunch orders are available to buy on Thursdays. This week's lunch order is a sausage sizzle. Children can bring their money to school ($2) on Thursday if they would like to buy a sausage. Year 7 and 8s will collect the money in the morning from the children. Here is the lunch order menu for the term. We will ask for pre-orders for the food available for the rest of the term and let you know how to do it. This is a fundraiser for camp so all proceeds go directly to reducing the cost of our students going on camp this year. You can also check the school events calendar to find out what is available each week. Thank you for your support!

Swimming

Swimming is starting on Friday for the Year 4-8s and next Tuesday for the juniors. There is a cost for this activity so please check the invoice that you received yesterday.

Drop offs and pick-ups

It's fairly chaotic out there at the moment, particularly at drop off times in the morning as everyone is back to starting at the same time. Please follow the road rules and help us to minimise the traffic madness. If you are stopping in the bus-stop outside school, please remember that it is only a 2 minute park and drivers shouldn't be getting out of the car. We are going to get our popular 'drop and go' programme up and running again where senior students meet children from their cars and walk them into school. You'll know who they are by their fabulous hi-vis vests and friendly faces!

As Kukupa and Kākā are now based in classrooms on the field, it would help if those parents change their drop off from the main gate to down by the bottom field. If you live on the walking bus route you may wish to sign your child up for that or even drop them to the walking bus so they enjoy the benefits of walking to school. Let's be kind to each other and respect the road rules. We've asked for our friendly local police woman to make an appearance in the mornings to help with this too.

Our Premier Event - 13 August 5.30 - 7pm

Our premiere event will bring us together as a community for the first time since LOCKDOWN. This evening is to celebrate our school community, and enjoy being together. It's also an opportunity to see the art work that children have done around the school.

The evening will include:

- Kapa haka performance

- sharing family video clips showing how we displayed the 4Rs in lockdown

- children's art on display around the school

- drama

- board presentation of

• school te reo name - Tawatawa Kura

• new kaupapa - "Ki te hoe; ready for the journey"

It's not too late to send in your videos of how your family showed the 4 Rs during this time!

Share an idea at Vogelmorn's Annual Reflection Meeting: Sunday 2nd August from 3.00pm - 5.00pm

You are all welcome to our Annual Reflection Meeting (ARM) where we discuss the past year for Vogelmorn and entertain ideas for the future under the headings of Vogelmorn's Values: Inclusion, Sustainabilty, Community Advocacy and Creativity. Anyone keen to feedback or feed forward into the future ideas of the community is very welcome to attend.
