Term 1, Week 8, 2020 (Monday 23 March)

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa - warm greetings to all.

As you will have no doubt seen or heard, school will be closed from tomorrow (except for children of those working in essential services).

Your child/ren will be bringing home their books today. Each whānau has their own Learning at Home plan which you can see below. There are also tips for how to accomplish this learning at home.

Tips for Learning at home

Whānau Learning at home plans: Ruru, Kōtare, Tūi, Kūkupa, Kākā

Each whānau plan is a guide that outlines what learners at this level should be doing each day. Teachers are still developing these and will send more specific instructions directly to either parents (Y1-3) or children (Y4-8). Learning at home plans have both online and offline options. If you are having trouble accessing the online options, contact your child's kaitiaki teacher for help.

We have a community facebook page (Ridgway Whanau Group) that we will use to promote unity during what will be an isolating and potentially worrying time. You can post photos of your child at home, share activities you have tried with your children or any tips for how to keep them busy while you carry on with your job. We encourage all of you to join this facebook group, post and share so we don't lose our sense of community, which is one of the fantastic things about Ridgway School. This page is different to our school facebook page, as it is a closed group that you have to ask to join. This means photos and posts can only be seen by members of the Ridgway School community.

In the meantime, take care. Take care of yourselves, your families and other loved ones. Please do get in touch with either Kathryn or I, or your child's kaitiaki teacher at any stage throughout this isolation process. Stay safe.
