Term 4, Week 1, 2019 (17 October 2019)
He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa - warm greetings to all! Welcome to Term 4.
STEM Week
This week we have STEM Week. There are loads of exciting activities happening so hopefully your child is coming home talking about all the exciting learning that is taking place!
National Shake Out
Today we will be talking about earthquakes at school and having an earthquake drill. This may be a good opportunity for you to remind your own children about your family's earthquake plan.
Zero to Hero Disco
Next Friday (25 October) our sustainability group are running a fundraising 'Zero to Hero' disco. Children can dress as a hero and it is to raise funds for Waste Initiatives. $2 entry includes a small drink and popcorn.
Jump Jam Bake Sale Fundraiser
Our Jump Jam team are holding a bake sale fundraiser on Wednesday 30 October to help them to raise money for their trip to the nationals. Items will be between 50c and $2.
Athletics Day and School Sports Day
We had our senior Athletics Day yesterday at Newtown Park. The weather wasn't great but there were some excellent results and children will be finding out if they've qualified for Southern Zones soon. We are having a whole school Sports Day at school on Friday November 15th. There will be lots of athletic events as well as fun activities for everyone. Hopefully the weather will be better for that!
Noho Marae
This is going to be held on December 3 and 4th at Taraika, the marae at Wellington High School. This is for our Year 4s and our extension te reo ropu.
Relocation during our rebuild
The Ministry of Education has approved the use of four portable classrooms on our field during the rebuild process. We are waiting for council approval before we can confirm that this is going ahead.
Sunhats please!
As it's Term 4, children need to have a wide-brimmed hat at school so please remind them to bring a named sunhat each day.
